Nokia N8 Review

Posted by:

Couple of weeks ago I had this sudden urge of buying a new phone as my Nokia E71 felt very outdated since it lacked necessary features and apps, something you can’t do without nowadays.

So at first I thought I would get an iPhone or probably an Android-based phone until I checked out the N8 and fell in love with it instantly.

The phone comes with useful apps like the Ovi map, Ovi Social Network that allows you to run multiple Facebook & Twitter accounts simultaneously and the Ovi chat where you can run all sorts of messengers like Yahoo / MSN / Paltalk together. Setting up multiple email accounts is very simple and makes life so much easier!

Now the best part about the phone is its 12-megapixel camera and the iPod-style music player. The stereo headset that comes with the N8 will blow your mind with its flawless audio quality and has built in playback and volume controller too.

There are lots of other great features like it can capture HD video at 720p and it also has an HDMI connection so you can easily view photos or watch movies on a large screen TV or projector.

By far I’m loving the N8 and the only issue I have is with the web browser, it does the job but it isn’t the best. I’m hoping they fix the browser issues when they have a software update.

Check out all the other features and specifications [Here].

RE-35 Digital Cartridges for film cameras!

Posted by:

I hope this isn’t an April fools’ day joke, but looking at their website it looks very promising and if you think carefully,  it is absolutely do-able.

For photographers who are attached to their analog equipment but can no longer resist the pull of the digital age, RE35 proposes a solution: a digital cartridge that fits into any 35mm camera and connects to your computer via USB.

The RE-35 cartridge, in place of film, has a pull-out “sensor” that captures the images and saves them to flash memory within the cartridge. When plugged in to a computer, the cartridge charges and transfers images with built-in software.

Just what we needed! [Link]

Hasbro reinvents Monopoly using unfair technology

Hasbro reinvents Monopoly using unfair technology that prevents you from cheating and stealing from the bank!

The new $50 Monopoly Live is the same as the old game, except that it has a prominent 10-inch tower sitting in the middle of the board. This plastic tower rolls non-existent fake dice with fake dice sounds, manages rent calculations, announces player turns and even remembers how much money you have — all done electronically.

According to the NYT, the tower “bathes the board in infrared light and a camera can see reflectors placed on each game piece” allowing dice rolls to be initiated by just covering your game piece. What the heck?

Leif Askeland, one of Monopoly Live’s designers says that “the tower never makes a mistake” and that disputes are non-existent.

There is no freewill after all.

Google helps Egyptians tweet without Internet

Posted by:

The last remaining Internet service provider in Egypt, the Noor Group, shut down today four days after the Internet blackout on Friday. The cell phone service was back on Saturday but the text messaging services have been disrupted. Looks like the Egyptian government really wants to keep its people and the world in dark.

Google Inc. developed a new speak-to-tweet service over the weekend to help the Egyptians be heard by using just a voice connection. They worked with a small team of enginners from Twitter, Google and SayNow and the service is now live with no Internet connection required.

Anyone can tweet by dialing one of these three phone numbers: +1-650-4194196, +390662207294, or +97316199855 and leaving a voicemail message and the service will instantly tweet the message using the #Egypt hashtag. People can listen to the messages by dialing the same phone numbers or going to twitter.com/speak2tweet.

Password Vault is your missing friend

Posted by:

I will keep it very short, this little device secures account information for all your website addresses, usernames, passwords, and ATM PINs and stores them for immediate retrieval, completely independently from your computer or phone.

This device is a must have and I’m getting mine since I have a long list of usernames/passwords and at times I tend to forget not just the password but the existence of my entire account information.

If you want to know more on how it really works check out their page [Here].

Check out the new video for Daft Punk’s first single ‘Derezzed’ off the TRON: Legacy soundtrack. The song is badass and so is the video.

Update: Just found out that Monster Cable teamed up with Disney to produce TRON inspired headphones, I was checking out the gallery and they look very sleek. [Link]

They even have Daft Punk edition of these headphones! [Link]
