Traffic ticket for bad breath?

Posted by:

A driver in Hawally got a ticket for having his car impounded for two months because he had ‘bad breath’! Is personal hygiene on the list of traffic violations now? What about the serious offenses like reckless driving, arrogance, road rage, eve teasing and all other insanities we see on the road everyday? These kind of traffic violators should have their cars impounded and licenses revoked rather than regular people with personal hygiene issues that don’t really cause road accidents.

Police sources said they were extremely surprised by the ticket but did not know what to do and whether the bad mouth smell warranted the seizure of the car for two months. They were also more shocked when they learned that the police man complained that he was harmed by the smell.

Embarrasing moment at Pinkberry

Posted by:

My sister was telling me yesterday that she and mom had gone to Pinkberry on Salem Al-Mubarak Street over the weekend after they got done with all their shopping.

They sat down to enjoy their froyo when Enrique’s Tonight started playing in the store, only that it was the uncensored version! The staff didn’t notice at first but by the time they realized, the song was almost over. They could have left but it was so hot outside that they had no choice. My sister said that it was really funny trying to ignore the song by digging into her frozen yogurt and chatting away with mom as loudly as she could every time the chorus came on!

Home delivery obsession in Kuwait

Posted by:

Here is a funny article I read on Kuwait Times that shows how lazy and “disgustingly comfortable” life in Kuwait can get with a home-delivery service for almost everything.

I doubt such luxuries are available anywhere else in the world where all you have to do is lift a finger to get anything you want. As for me, I confess to have only gone so far as to use the home-delivery for restaurants and just a couple of times for groceries because of the bad weather.

New kind of crazies

Posted by:

I just read the most ridiculous news of the day on Kuwait Times. A Saudi cleric is seeing some very imaginative and unmentionable things in the design of the new King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah! Just a few days ago it was Salwa Al-Mutairi and her crazy suggestions to trade in sex slaves to ‘protect’ the Kuwaiti men from commiting adultery. And now we have Dr. Ali Baqna Al-Shahrani who is claiming that the new airport design is a ‘western-conspired pagan design’ and is abusive to Islam because it reminds him of a woman’s intimate parts and the Air Traffic Control tower resembles a man’s intimate parts! He even goes into extreme details explaining that the aircraft landing and taking off move in a way that the spermatozoa does!

This is totally insane and one hell of a sick imagination! Wonder what all he sees in people and things around him?

Check out the [Video] and the [Transcript].

Sex slaves to protect men?

Posted by:

I read this in the news two days ago and laughed it off but turns out Salwa Al-Mutairi is making the headlines around the world with her outrageous suggestion to legalize sex slavery to “protect the decent, devout and ‘virile’ Kuwaiti men from adultery and fear of being seduced or tempted into immoral behavior by the beauty of their female servants”.

She went all the way to get an Islamic ruling from the Saudi muftis and recommended to buy Russian captives in Chechnya and open sex trade offices just like how recruitment agencies provide housemaids.

This is just outright hilarious. Read it all [Here].

NYU student makes $120k off Bin Laden’s death and then decides to refund

Posted by:

A 23 year old New Yorker, Maurice Harary, saw his business opportunity as soon as he heard that bin Laden was killed by US forces in Pakistan. He immediately created the website Osamadeadtees.com to sell his “Osama’s dead” t-shirts. His site was up and running at 3:30am on Monday and sold 10,000 t-shirts at $12 each by Tuesday night which adds up to $120,000 in less than two days.

That’s not it. He then had a change of heart and decided he wanted to refund the money he made.

“I will now be refunding all orders on Osama dead tees”, Harary says. “Celebrating over the death of someone, whoever it is, is evil in my eyes. I feel it’s not a positive way to be making money. I don’t want my success to come at the expense of anyone else”.

Now there is a big “SOLD-OUT” sign on the site and he’s planning to launch another one to sell a wider range of clothing.

So what do you make of this? 15 minutes of fame or change of conscience? I just don’t get how he managed to print 10,000 t-shirts so fast.

Warning against ‘Magic Pens’

Posted by:

I received this funny email at work about a warning issued by the Central Bank of Kuwait against a Chinese ‘magic pen’. It seems that the ink used in these pens disappears within one hour to four days after writing on cheques or normal paper and can be illegally used to forge documents.

I had read about a similar warning issued in Dubai sometime back where these Chinese pens had been smuggled into the UAE and they were warning all the banks not to use customers’ pens to sign on any official document and cheques and to use only their own pens and be extremely cautious.

I guess the forensics could probably shade in the impressions left by the pen even if the ink disappears.

Indian Johnny Rockets

Posted by:

If you have ever passed by the Essa Al-Qatami street in Salmiya, then I’m sure you must have seen the infamous Amman Bhelpuri Indian joint.

What I don’t understand is why a place that’s been there since 1971 would rip off the logo of another that came up 15 years later in 1986.

Is it that difficult to be original?
