Humanoid Robots at Abu Dhabi Malls

Posted by:

Abu Dhabi will soon be replacing their low-skilled human workers with their all-purpose service robots at a lot of different sectors including hotels, exhibition centers, airport and shopping malls.

PAL Robotics, which is part of Abu Dhabi’s Royal Group conglomerate, recently launched a 1.65m tall tall humanoid robot called REEM and trialed it at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC). The robots proved so successful that ADNEC has placed an order for 20 robots and PAL plans to open a factory next year in the emirate to manufacture REEM humanoids.

Taj Mahal is collapsing while Big Ben tilts

Posted by:

Now’s the time to go visit the Taj Mahal for those who haven’t already, because according to the experts it could collapse within 2 to 5 years due to the rotting wooden foundation. Cracks have started showing up in the wall and the four minarets are showing signs of tilting. Hash & I have always wanted to go see the Taj Mahal and I guess we’ll have to make travel plans soon enough.

I also read that London’s Big Ben have started tilting to one side. This is bad news for the world’s famous monuments.

Stealer deals at Family Bookshop

Posted by:

Hash and I went strolling in the old Salmiya market last weekend and we passed by the Family Bookshop. I actually saw through their window that they had some bargains on all the books so we decided to go in and take a look. I couldn’t even remember the last time I had been inside, it was probably over 10 years ago and the place looked very depressing now. They have some court case going on with the building owner since it’s going to be demolished soon. The guy in the shop said that they would move to a new place but they haven’t decided on anything yet.

Anyways, they have some stealer deals going on and they’re selling most of the books for only KD1 and 50% off on a lot of others. They want to finish off their stock before they close down so make sure you pass by and pick up a few books for old times’ sake.
